BAMBOO VASE
This bamboo vase craft I saw in a book last year. Bamboo is hollow on the inside except for where the joints/segments meet as there is a very thick membrane. Bamboo is also naturally water resistant. So this makes for a perfect vase. First I went to a greenhouse and bought a 5 foot long piece of bamboo, that was 1.5-2" wide.
Then you cut the bamboo with a saw on one side of the segment then just before other. The thick membrane end is the bottom of the vase and you have the top open.
I then used a palm sander to sand off the stained finish and smooth out the top and bottom of the vase. The inside needed to be cleaned out only a little. And that's it.
A beautiful, interesting, all natural vase.
